Sunset from Sunset Beach, Fl

After going to Clearwater to take sunset pictures, I wanted to return to the beach the following day. I wanted to go to my favorite local beach, Sunset Beach, located south of Treasure Island. This time I got there earlier to work on my tan, read, relax, and take some pictures. The weather in Florida is now perfect; not too hot or humid. Andre and I got there after 4:00 PM and stayed until the sunset which is now at around 8:00 PM. Parking was a little difficult since there are some schools that are still on spring break. Last month, Budget Travel Magazine picked St Pete beach as the number 1 beach in the US and the 5th worldwide.  Here is the link to the article. I haven't seen a nice hotel room for $84 per night like the article says, but I'm on a mission to find it. I want to go, preferably in low season, and spend a weekend on the beach.

Walking towards our car, we passed by a beach house with the sign below. I had to take a picture of it.

I didn't want to leave the beach that day. The sky didn't turn into pinks and purples like the day before, but I still enjoyed watching the sun go down one more time. I have blogged about this beach before and I've posted many pictures. If you want to see some older post click here and here

Honeymoon Day 9

I'm so sorry that I have been slacking with the Hawaii posts. We went away for one week to Ecuador and leaving means a lot of work before and after taking the days off. I think I'm finally catching up with everything and I can continue with the last honeymoon posts.

This was our last full day in Hawaii. The honeymoon was coming to an end. The whole time that we were in Hawaii we heard a song in the radio that I couldn't get out of my head for days after we got back. We decided to upgrade our rental car for a convertible for the last few days of our honeymoon. We listened to a really good local reggae radio station while we were in Hawaii. I wish that there was one in Tampa.

The view from our room

The first stop was Sunset Beach, my favorite beach in Oahu. We stayed for a few hours and then we drove to the town of Haleiwa for lunch.

Sunset Beach

On our way back, while we were driving on Kamehameha Highway (83) we saw a crowd at the same beach were I saw a huge Hawaiian green sea turtle 3 years ago. Here is a picture of the turtle from my previous trip to Oahu. We stopped to see what was going on. We finally saw turtles up close during our trip. We didn't see any of them laying in the sand, but there were 4 or 5 swimming next to us. I'm sure that they didn't want to get close to the sand because of all the people standing on the beach.

We spent the late afternoon and our last night in Hawaii at the Polynesian Center. We got the ticket for the Ali'i Luau and the evening show. This was a different show than the one I saw 3 years ago. The Polynesian Center is definitely worth a day's visit, but unfortunately we didn't have enough time.

At the Luau
We only had half a day left on our honeymoon and we were not ready to leave Hawaii.

SUN-day

We spent our Sunday like you would expect to spend a sunny summer day in Florida: at the beach. My sister and my nephew called me on Saturday to ask if we would like to go to the beach on Sunday. They picked us up at noon and we went to Sunset Beach. It is about 30 minutes from our place to the beach. Last time that we went to Sunset beach it was in October and we saw a shark. Yesterday we didn't have many exciting things happening at the beach. It was a perfect day without a cloud in the sky. I got a little sunburned in my back probably from the walk. The walks on the beach are always interesting. I love people-watch and this is the perfect place to see many different people.

Stingrays??? never seen one here - just sharks!

talking a walk - always see interesting "speedos" in Florida

Sunset Sunday

St Pete Beach is probably my favorite beach in the Tampa Bay area. I always go to Sunset Beach which is north of St Pete Beach because it is easier to find parking. When my sister was visiting last March, she stayed at a hotel in St Pete Beach. These pictures were taken on a week day when we drove after work to have dinner with her.

The landmark of the area is the Don Cesar Hotel. Treasure Island and Madeira Beach are north of St Pete Beach. Sometimes because of the limited parking you can end up in another Beach without even noticing. If you missed the other post and pictures from Sunset Beach you can see them herehere, and here.

Sunset Sunday

During 2009, Sunset beach became my favorite beach. It is close to Tampa, not as crowded as Clearwater, and Caddy's is close which means easy access to clean restrooms and ice cold drinks. When two of my best friends from Colombia came to see U2 in concert I took them to Sunset Beach. These are the pictures from that day.

Sunset Sunday @ Sunset Beach

These pictures were taken outside of Caddy's, a beach bar/restaurant located in Sunset Beach, Florida. I was driving towards St Pete beach but I took a wrong turn and found this nice place. It was in December and they had a snow man in the sand. I loved it since this was the first "snow" man that I've ever seen! During the summer Caddy's has live music and LOTS of people.

P.S: This was 2 years ago, I still haven't seen a real snow man!
